A major donor to the Brownsville Scholars Program at Texas A&M University, Mike Albert Hernandez III leads D&M Leasing, a company that offers vehicle leasing programs and services, as the company’s chief executive officer. Mike Hernandez III’s company supports nonprofit and community organizations such as the Ladies Auxiliary Boys & Girls Club. Children’s programming offered by the organization includes the Camp Rock summer camp.

A traditional day camp, Camp Rock engages children in an assortment of outdoor activities that range from lakefront boating and swimming to fishing and hiking. Accredited by the American Camp Association, the camp accepts children in first through eighth grade and provides outdoor education programs that teach skills for gardening and outdoor living. Camp sessions also feature different themes and field trips that focus on fun and character development. In addition, the Camp Rock’s age-progressive programs are designed to challenge older campers and provide a sense of stability for younger ones. Youth entering ninth through 12th grade may also participate in the Counselor In Training program.
Camp Rock summer programs run May through August and feature approximately 10 unique themes every year. Campers must become members of the Boys & Girls Club to participate, and parents must attend a Parent Meeting after registering their child. Attending a Parent Meeting allows parents and guardians to ask questions, learn about the upcoming camp experience, and meet camp staff.
